My main problem with frozen entrees is that you don't know when they were made. Chances are, it could've been weeks, maybe months before "the real thing" actually arrived
in your local grocer's freezer for you to pick up. And you're supposed to nuke that block of ice and pretend it was once a home cooked meal? Do those pretty pictures on the box help with the suspension of disbelief?
The next problem with "ice age" entrees is that they necessitate a high sodium and preservative content to ensure that the entrees will survive until the ice age passes and you are ready to eat it. Because they have no marked expiration dates, most frozen dinners have unlimited shelf life. |

Friends, Romans, and countrymen, I'm writing to tell you that perishability isn't a crime. And that unlimited shelf life isn't a course we should emulate. Foods that are perishable are foods that are fresh and preservative free. Life doesn't aspire to be immortal... neither should the foods you eat.
Convenience doesn't mean sacrificing freshness. This is why Momma Chiu cooked up her Tofu Spaghetti, Spicy Tofu Stew, and Tofu Fried Rice. Don't know how to cook with tofu or too busy to cook in general? We can help! These are our first fully microwaveable entrees, and along with all our products, they have no MSG or added preservatives. Regarding sodium content, our tofu entrees will have lower sodium levels than anything on the frozen food aisles.*
I hope these will be new classics in your home. Please contact me if you’d be interested in having these on your table.
*I've compared the sodium content in our tofu fried rice entrees to rice dishes by Cascadian Farm, Seapoint Farms, Healthy Choice, and Uncle Ben's. To put it mildly, "one tofu entree to rule them all." |
